Joseph Gillard commenced valuation with the Valuation Department in 1968 while at the same time studying at Auckland University toward the Diploma in Urban Valuation which he completed in 1971. He gained registration in 1973 and Associate status in 1976. In 1999 he was made a Fellow of the Institute.
He was with the Valuation Department until 1983 and extensively involved in most parts of the Auckland real estate market in the valuing of all types of residential, commercial, industrial and fringe properties. In 1983 he joined the then firm of C N Seagar and Associates, becoming a partner in January 1986 when the partnership was established. With Seagars, he has been involved in most aspects of the Auckland and provincial real estate markets but with his specialty being the valuation of South Auckland industrial properties in which field he has been continuously involved over the past 25 years. He is highly regarded in this area of the market, having given evidence in both the Land Valuation Tribunal and Courts. He is one of the resident Directors in the Botany office.
